I first came to the Bay Area from China in 1992 when I was 15. For the next twenty years, I had lived in Burlingame, Millbrae, San Francisco, Vancouver, and San Bruno. Now I live in Menlo Park with my wife Karen, my 6-year-old daughter Rainbow, and my 2-year-old son Remi.
A proud Viking, I studied at Mills High School and, during my senior year, took classes at Skyline College. After high school, I went to Golden Gate University in San Francisco and earned a Bachelor Degree in Computer Information Systems and a Master Degree in Telecommunications Management.
I worked for a small start-up company, an international trading company, as well as a major technology company, a leader in the telecommunications industry. I designed systems that are mission oriented, user-friendly, and resilient to both innocent user mistakes as well as malicious attacks.
Currently, I advise companies working in the field of sustainability, including companies in sustainable farming, portable and consumer solar, water conservation technologies, and electric vehicle manufacturing. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, shooting, and reading about history. People always ask me my secret of mastering a new language: It is very simple: Find a subject you are passionate about and read books, magazines, and articles on the subject in the language you want to learn. For me, that subject is history. I once checked out from the library a two-volume book on American History and finished them in a week.
As a person who is familiar with many different cultures, I lived it, I hope to bring to our community colleges my fresh perspectives and help our students take advantage of global opportunities; as a frugal new immigrant, I will make sure that the district will spend taxpayer dollars wisely and effectively; as an engineer, I will bring to the table pragmatic solutions and better interface for the people we served. Please support my campaign for the San Mateo County Community College District. Please vote on Nov 5th.
